A Thin Line Between Love & Hate

The first time I came across this phrase, I was definitely under 10 and it just made for a good movie starring the ever graceful Lynn Whitfield. But now, in this current season that I'm in, I understand all too well how faint the line between love and hate is. If one isn't too careful, it's all too easy to cross over and why shouldn't it? If love is a strong emotion, hate is about the only other emotion that can match it.

I've recently found myself almost gravitating around the emotion hate towards some people that I should ordinarily love. Every now and then, I feel like I'm on a tightrope hoping not to tip over into the hate camp.

From saying I love you to telling lies about a person

From talking everyday to blocking them

From praying for them to wishing they never existed

Isn't it ironic that two strong emotions can co-exist in a person

Like Jekyll and Hyde

One patiently waiting for the other to wear out so it surfaces, having remained in the shadows for so long, plotting, waiting and finally emerging and feeling so comfortable in your skin like it's home.

A thin line between love and hate.... I wonder who first felt its sting.
